Retro Cheetos packaging

I saw these at the store yesterday.  Looks like Frito Lay has implemented throwback packaging onto their crunchy and puffs versions of Cheetos, just like they did with Taco and Sour Cream flavors of Doritos.

As you can see from the picture, there's an older version of Chester Cheetah on these bags.  I don't remember him being featured on the old packaging I saw as a kid.  However, I do remember me and my friends imitating Chester Cheetah's voice back in 1983.. so I guess it's entirely possible.  Before Chester, I remember a Cheetos Mouse being featured on commercials.   I can't be entirely sure, but I think his name was "Cheesar".

Frito Lay has also released Ruffles potato chips with retro packaging, so I'll be on the lookout for these next time I'm at the supermarket.

  2. So - what I want to know, Darrin - is whether or not you wear some styling '70s duds (flared plaid pants, scenery print shirt opened to your navel, some gold chains and maybe a nice 'fro) when you go on these little retro seeking adventures?

...it would certainly add to the experience - especially if you included some pictures of your get-ups.

    ...just sayin' :)

    1. HA! You should see how some folks look at me when I buy certain items at the thrift stores. It's like they're thinking.. "Who the heck would want these old relics?" They'd understand if they saw me in some slick threads like Greg Brady used to wear. LOL

I can't buy Cheetos. I'll eat the whole bag at once.

    1. Awesome! I love it when companies do this kinda stuff!! You know.. I would've thought bacon and cheddar Cheetos would have come around sooner than those red spicy flaming ones.
