Groucho was a true master of improvisational comedy, and he could use any situation to his favor. I heard an interview with his daughter once, where she stated that Groucho had terrible stomach problems which kept him up every night. Since Groucho got by on naps and a couple hours of sleep a night, it made him pretty cantankerous and ornery. His comedic style evolved as a direct consequence, and the world of comedy and entertainment would be a funnier place as a result.

ReplyDeleteOh boy - that takes me back to my childhood! Back when kids were kids and we lived in an adult world. My mother and I would watch this while waiting for dad to come home from the night shift - great memories!
