More retro cereal box sightings

I'm totally digging what General Mills is doing with their cereal box packaging.  It takes me right back to when I was a kid! Here's a couple of boxes I saw at Target yesterday..

1960's TRIX box art

 1956 Cheerios box reproduction

1980's Lucky Charms box art

It'd be great if other cereal companies would get on board with this idea like General Mills.  At the very least.. I'd love to see more General Mills cereals like Cookie Crisp, featuring box art that I loved so much as a kid!

  3. Wow! These are really cool! You are right in that it totally takes me back to the days of my childhood.

We really did all of those puzzles and games on the back of the boxes, because we didn't have any hand-held electronic devices to detract us.

And since there was only one TV in the house, and it was in the living room, and we ate breakfast at the table in the kitchen... well - we made use of the games they gave us!

    Good times!

  4. Those are awesome! Was there a little guy in a striped suit that tried to steal Cookie Crips, or am I imagining it?

  5. Man, how awesome! I agree that other cereal companies should jump on the retro bandwagon! I would love to see a retro Aunt Jemima pancake mix but you know that won't happen.

  7. Pat: Agreed! I'm SO diggin' this concept!

Alicia: ooooooooh yeah!! I bought a bunch of these puppies as well! (Not to mention scarfing them down!)

B.F.T.P: Well said my friend! I did all of those activities on the back of the cereal boxes, and they were fun to boot!

Kitty: Yup! The Cookie Crook and his dog who were always being chased by the cookie cop! Before the cookie crook.. there was a wizard that changed kids boring cereal into cookies!!

Connie: Very true!! I'd like to see it too.. but I doubt it will ever happen!

Dan: Yes! I missed seeing him as well! The new version of Lucky just looks too goofy.

  8. I got the Captain Crunch in the retro box a few weeks ago. The box was great, but unfortunately the cereal tasted like it was 30 years old. Oh well.

  9. Tiki Chris: DOH! Hope you didn't get a real retro box that WAS 30 years old! LOL
